How Much are You Worth?

by Felicia Uhm
In an interview with Shawn Bolz, Steve Chua asked, “If you had all the money in the world, how much would you pay Jesus for what he did for you on the cross?” (Catch the interview HERE.)
In other words, what is Jesus’ life worth? Can you put a price tag on it?
There’s no price because Jesus’ life is priceless.
By definition “redemption” is:
1. the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil.
2. the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
Redemption is an exchange. So if what Jesus did was priceless, this priceless act was in exchange for another life that’s priceless.
Jesus died to redeem YOUR life. His redemption is the payment for your life from death. So when Jesus bought you back with a price and that was with his priceless life, it means your life has a price tag – it’s priceless, since it was bought with Jesus’ priceless life!
Too often we casually say that Jesus died for your sins. Jesus didn’t just die for your sins and forgave you. He died for YOU, your entire life.
His life was given to restore you to your priceless state. The One and Only Son redeemed the one and only you. That is how priceless you are! “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9 NIV)
Remember, he didn’t just die for your sins; he died for you.
The one and only you.
“For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.” (John 3:16 TPT)
Application: Meditate on this truth: The price tag of Jesus’ sacrifice to redeem your life is priceless. You were bought with a price. Jesus’ priceless life was given to redeem your priceless life.
Prayer: May I never forget the breadth, the depth, the height, the width of your love for me. May I never stop experiencing this never-ending love for me that’s as vast as the oceans below and infinite as the galaxies above. Amen.
Affirmation: I have been redeemed by Jesus’ precious and priceless life. I am precious and priceless. I am so valuable that Jesus died not only for my sins but he died for all of me.
